Dec 10 Transit Forum with Gov. Mike Dukakis

"Reviving Federal Investment in Public Transit: Build Subways, Not Submarines" is a conference/meet-up sponsored by the Mass People's Budget Coalition, Cambridge Residents Alliance, MIT Radius, Mass. Peace Action, and the MIT Transit Group.

The MBTA is facing a $7+ Billion backlog of maintenance and state-of-good-repair work. Meanwhile, the Green Line Extension/Somerville Community Path project is entering a critical phase, the movement for safer bike infrastructure is growing, and plans for night-time bus service are under discussion. Donald Trump is soon to enter the White House, and the nation's military budget continues to dwarf spending on things like affordable housing and sustainable transit infrastructure.

Join us for discussion of these and many other transit topics with former Massachusetts Governor Michael Dukakis, his Secretary of Transportation and current MIT Professor Fred Salvucci, Somerville State Representative Denise Provost, State Representative-Elect Mike Connolly, MassPIRG's Kirstie Pecci, public transit / labor organizer John Doherty, TransitMatters co-founder Marc Ebuña, Fair Share Amendment organizer John Ratliff, Mass. Peace Action's Jon King, and many others.
