Welcome from the EditorsThe_Potluck183_copy.jpg

Dear Friends,

Welcome to our newly revived Neighborhood Voices, newsletter of the Cambridge Residents Alliance.

As a community organization, formed by residents from different Cambridge neighborhoods, we have become increasingly concerned about some of the changes underway in the city we love. While Cambridge is still a great place to live, we see declining diversity and quality of life due to over-development, rising rents, displacement of long-time residents, increasing traffic, diminishing open space, and pressure on our environment and infrastructure.

We now connect about 1000 households who have joined our email list, attended our forums, come to our monthly meetings, testified at City Council or Planning Board meetings, participated in our electoral campaigns, or regularly visited our website. Many in this network participate in other community organizations, including the Area4/Port Coalition, Fresh Pond Residents Alliance, Neighborhood Association of East Cambridge, Cambridgeport Neighbors Association, and Association of Cambridge Neighborhoods.

Neighborhood Voices will be published regularly during the school year. We welcome your ideas, articles, photos and comments.  You can communicate with us by email ([email protected]) or write to our post office box at: Cambridge Residents Alliance, P.O. Box 390487, Cambridge, MA 02139.

We urge you to read our Mission/Program statement, our Platform accessible by the button on the right, and explore other pages on this website.  For the time and place of our next monthly meeting, open Calendar in the menu above.

All articles in the newsletter, unless otherwise stated, are the opinion of the author and not an organization.

Thanks to community muralist David Fichter for the photos of details from his "Potluck" mural, both here and on our newsletter masthead.

If this is your first time visiting us, please join!

Thanks,

Jackie Dee King and Shelley Rieman, Editors of Neighborhood Voices
